What is a Slot?

A slot is a thin opening or groove in something. For example, mail goes through the slot on a mailbox or you can put coins into a slot machine to win money. In video games, a slot is the location where symbols line up to pay out credits. Many slots have a pay table that lists all possible winning combinations and how much the bettor can win for each combination. Some machines also have wild symbols that can substitute for other symbols and may pay even if they aren’t on the pay line.

The t-slot table mounts directly to the base of your universal testing system, providing an extended work area with a convenient way to secure components and structures for performing tensile, compression and flexural tests. Commercially available t-slot nuts can be inserted into the inverted t-slots on the table and bolts, studs or threaded rods can then be used to hold specimens in position during the test. This makes it easy to attach standard Instron grips, text fixtures and major accessories without removing the t-slot table from the frame.
